Privacy
This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit elswickchurch.org. It was last updated on 28 July 2026.
The short version
We do not track you. There is no analytics software on this website, no advertising, and no profiling. We do not sell or share anything about our visitors. Most of the site can be read without anything being stored on your device at all.
Cookies
This website sets one cookie of its own. It is called cookie-consent, it records whether you accepted or declined the banner you see on your first visit, and it lasts twelve weeks. Its only purpose is to avoid asking you the same question on every page.
If you decline, the parts of the site that would involve another company — the video on the home page and the map on the Meetings page — are not loaded, and nothing else is stored. Everything else on the site works exactly as it does otherwise.
You can clear this cookie at any time through your browser settings, and you will simply be asked again.
Content from other companies
Some pages include material hosted elsewhere. When your browser loads it, that company receives your IP address and can see which page you were on, in the same way as if you had visited their own website. We have no access to what they collect.
- Vimeo — the video on the home page. Only loaded if you accept cookies.
- Google Maps — the map on the Meetings page. Only loaded if you accept cookies. A link to directions is shown instead if you decline.
- Podbean — our sermon recordings are hosted by Podbean and play directly from them, so listening to a sermon involves their servers. This is not covered by the cookie banner, because the recording is the content of the page rather than an addition to it.
- Cloudflare — the website is hosted by Cloudflare, so their servers handle every request and keep the usual short-term logs. The contact form also uses Cloudflare Turnstile, described below.
The contact form
If you use the form on the Contact page, the name, email address, subject and message you type are sent to the church by email. We use them to reply to you and for nothing else. You are not added to any mailing list, because we do not operate one.
That email is delivered by Mailgun, who handle it on our behalf and therefore process what you wrote. Before the message is sent, the form is checked by Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at your IP address and some technical details of your browser to establish that you are a person rather than a machine. This is there to stop the form being used to send bulk unwanted mail, and it does not profile you or follow you around the internet.
Messages reach us as ordinary email and are kept for as long as they are useful in dealing with what you wrote about.
Links to other websites
The Links and Bible and Prayer pages point to other organisations, and sermons can also be listened to on Podbean. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for what they do.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. In practice, unless you have written to us, we hold nothing about you at all: this website records no visitors.
To make such a request, or to raise a concern, please telephone the church on 0191 273 4680 or write to us at Elswick Parish Church, Clumber Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7ST. If you are unhappy with our response you are entitled to complain to the Information Commissioner.
